Structure

What is structure?
You hear this phrase used a lot in dog training but do you actually know how it applies?

Structure is providing your dog with a routine every single day. Not just with their daily activities but with your expectations. Your dog should not only have rules and boundaries but they should know exactly what they are and be able to follow them.

Structure is about being consistent as well. You cannot hold these expectations during a training session but slack off in real life. You must hold your dog and yourself accountable every single day.

Structure provides clarity for your dog too! Without it, it leaves our dogs guessing, which typically forces them into bad decision making. Having clarity means they know you are the one to turn to, that you are the source of all goodness. They know where their food comes from, when it’s time to play, when it’s time to chill, where to rest, and where to run. Clarity means they understand that when you give a verbal cue following through is in their best interest and they are so much happier when they don’t have to figure these things out all on their own.

Structure is routine, consistency and clarity, but to sum it up-

Structure = A Happy Dog
