That is the problem right there!
Your whole day should be a training session. Training is a lifestyle not a one time event! We only call it a training session because that is where we stage real life situations.

Here’s where we have to be reflective and think about if we only ask for these behaviors during a training session or are we utilizing them in real life situations?

Routine and repetitions provide your dog with direction and clarity, but for some dogs, a training session is the only time they are receiving this type of structure. Sometimes it’s the only time the owner is teaching and guiding, therefore it is the only time the dog understands what the handler wants.

So if this is something that you struggle with, be reflective in your practices and pay attention to what you are asking of your dog during a training session versus what you ask of your dog in real life. Training sessions are only there to help prepare you and your dog for everyday challenges.
