It’s never just one problem

Often times I have dog owners asking me for help for “just one thing.”

But it’s never just-one-thing.

Here’s what I mean:

I may have a dog owner ask me how to get their dog to stop jumping on them. But it’s never about just addressing the jumping-I personally would not approach this issue in isolation because there are many other underlying factors as to why the dog does this behavior.

I’ve had dog owners tell me that their dog has separation anxiety, but I don’t go straight into resolving this issue. I can always almost guarantee there are other areas that the dog struggles.

Another owner may ask me how can I get the dog to stop barking at other dogs but again it’s not as simple as just correcting or stopping this one behavior. There are so many other behaviors to take into consideration.

So if you think your dog has “just this one problem”, they probably don’t-there are many underlying issues that have created a gap within the dog/human relationship.

Relationship-that is what needs to be worked on first!
