Will you come?

Recall is one of those things we practice in dog training that must always be positive; why else would your dog want to come when you call if it represents anything other than pure joy?

Some pointers for better recall training:
-play fun games inside the house like puppy ping pong to help your dog associate his name and “come” as something fun.
-use a long line outside
-have yummy treats or high value rewards when in distracting environments
-practice everywhere
-try to call your dog with the same tone consistently
-never ever act angry or call your dog in an upset tone-this will cause conflict and he most likely will not come when you call him. Even if he’s being a jerk…just pretend everything is fine.
