Resource Guarding

Dog training is a great way to help prevent problems from arising but once in a while little issues sneak their way up without us even realizing. And sometimes it can be the result of our own human actions. Which means that we are the ones that have to make a change.

But so many of us are so reluctant to these changes because it helps to fulfill our own needs. Not allowing your dog on furniture is one of them.

Now I am all for dogs being on furniture as long as there is no conflict when you need to remove them, but unfortunately, that is not the case for every dog. Some of them growl and even bite when you try to remove them or approach them. This is called resource guarding.

So the common resolution here is to not allow your dog on human furniture. When we set strict boundaries the issues will eventually resolve and you can slowly incorporate those things you loved to do with your dog back into your routine.
