Diet

Absolutely! Now this doesn’t mean that if your dog is exhibiting unwanted behaviors that you should directly correlate it to his diet but it can definitely be something you reflect on.

What often comes to my mind is the term HANGRY! Just like with humans, if we have a poor diet, then we have poor health-this poor health often leaves us in a lot of discomfort, which in turn, leads us to making poor decisions. Our dogs are no different. If they are not receiving the biologically appropriate nutrition they need it will lead them to not feeling their best; which can often be translated into aggression or even depression.

Scientifically speaking, nutrition influences every cell in the body-so without the right nourishment the brain and nervous system just cannot function properly. A dog’s behavior is directly influenced by the activity in the central nervous system, which is directly affected by the nutrients they consume.

When we feed our dogs a balanced species-appropriate meal, we are helping to promote stable blood sugar levels. This can help with training as it will improve your dog’s mood, energy level & ability to concentrate.

While a properly balanced diet will not fix all of the behavior problems you may be experiencing with your dog, when paired with consistent training and positive experiences, it will have a wonderful effect on your dog’s overall mood, focus, behavior and energy.
