Advanced Obedience is what helps us get through daily life. Training doesn’t end after your 15 minute session. It is a part of life. We train so that we can use the skills in our daily life to help us live more peacefully with these predators.

Most of my clients find a lot of value in teaching their dog a place stay. It is a skill that can be utilized in so many different scenarios.

For example, my Rhodesian Ridgeback that you see in this video has an obsession with food. He will literally do anything for it. He wants to be around it 24/7. I cannot change that part of him however if it annoys me, I can ask him to do something he understands when I am around food-I typically choose place.

This saves me from bumping into him, getting frustrated with him and most importantly it saves our food from being licked🤢 (he is super tall so he can reach the countertop🤣).

So when you are training, don’t forget to utilize everything your dog has learned, in real life situations!
